NICOLE FARHI- Luxury British Fashion house falls into administration

The luxury British fashion label Nicole Farhi has collapsed into administration more than 30 years after it was established, and it is the latest blow to a retail industry which has seen a series of names such as Aquascutum and Comet succumb to the downturn. Nicole Farhi, founded in 1982, has had two different owners in the last three years and is currently owned by private equity firm Kelso Place Asset Management.

Zolfo Cooper has been appointed as administrator to the brand, which employs 119 staff, has 5 stores, 10 concessions and a wholesale business which retails to department stores. Zolfo Cooper’s Peter Saville said, “ Nicole Farhi is a very powerful retail brand. Unfortunately, as with many other fashion retailers, the decline in high street spending coupled with rising costs has led to increased financial pressures on the business.

Zolfo Cooper stated talks are already in progress with interested parties and added the company will continue trading as it attempts to sell all or parts of the business.
